Norwood Primary has achieved Gold Accreditation through the Tasmanian Schools Canteen Association for supplying healthy eating options.   The canteen is run by a paid supervisor with parent volunteers on Thursdays and Fridays.  Lunch and recess may be purchased on these days. Parents can order through the App Quicker, or with cash at the canteen between 8.30 and 9.00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday mornings.

Whether students purchase from the canteen or not, we ask that students bring healthy items for recess and lunch from home. Water in drink bottles is the preferred drink for students as this is a healthy option.  These may be readily refilled during the day.

We are a nut awareness school and request that nuts and nut food items be saved for home.

All classes have fruit and water break at approximately 10.00am, where it is requested that all children have a piece of fresh fruit that they can eat with classmates at this time.

Out of School Hours Care

After School Care

Lady Gowrie, who operate the long day child care centre on site, runs after school care at Norwood Primary School.
We also have two outside providers, Hope Discovery and NCN Childcare offering after school care for Norwood. Children are picked up by a bus and transported to these child care facilities. Teachers supervise children until the bus arrives.

Norwood uniform guidelines

At Norwood all children wear the uniform with pride.  The uniform is attractive, yet practical and allows children some choice depending on the activities of the day.

Kindergarten children

Kindergarten staff suggest that children wear the Norwood Primary School sport uniform to their sessions.  As the Kindergarten program is an inside and outside program, children will be more comfortable in their sport uniform. This also means families do not need to purchase all uniform items until their child is in full time schooling in Prep.  Please see sport uniform requirements below.
